MATE....that's wicked that we're so close!!!!! I'm going to Portland for the Seadogs game this Tuesday (Portland's minor league baseball team). Would be soooo cool if you were there too!!!!!
Imagine how long that dock took for us to put together. I smelt like a man for a full week!!! (actually I still do ....that nice combo of grease, boat petrol, rust, sweat and dirty water, heh heh!) I'm getting browner by the minute....you too? The waterfront's amazing though. It's got an enclosed shallow area, then lap pool with lane ropes and diving boards, then a slide and a big deep area out back for paddle boats and scuba diving! Waterski has it's own seperate dock beside it all for the boats. I hope you videoed BLUE because it sounds fully sick mate! I'm jealous of all your time off! We get nooooooo time off (but my waterski head is trying to secretly swing it so we at least get one period off a week). My typical day is....wake up 5:50 for run and swim train....7:25 wake up imaginary 10 year olds...8am breaky...9:30 inspection....10am drive/teach ski/trick ski/wake board/knee board for the ENTIRE DAY (6 different age groups at each session - 3 boats and 20 kids....) Then dinner, night activities till 10 and on duty till 1am.......ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!! (I'm on duty 3 times a week....the other nights we play street hockey, basketball, gym, hooky, pool, or watch dvds...no grog.)
Some kids are amazing in my department and brought their own boards to camp so we get to do tricks and mad skillz! The freshmen are 5-9 and absolutely gorgeous. We go off the boom and teach them how to stand up and their all like I WANNA GO WITH KATE. CUTE!) Driving is sweet, but even better is our rest periods (one after lunch and one before dinner) where we can just take the boats ourselves and do whatever! We're starting up 6am skis for the waterski staff only too. Can't wait! Got sooooooo homesick today, which is really random because I am usually good with that. I had a sook in the bus on the way to the waterpark when everyone was listening to their ipods or sleeping. (good to have such huge sunnies!) Then I had such a fun day out I was like...what on earth was I thinking!? hahaha! Then on the way home, I sat next to the 'coolest of cool' sophomore boy camper in the bus... who was so buggered he zonked out on my shoulder (there goes his reputation, haha!) But I was just as bad and promptly fell asleep on his head, hahaha!!! Anyway. Camp is good. (that's our camp's motto......ha ha ha!) CAMP IS GOOD! Will write more later BYEEEEE!!!! I WAS SOOOO ANNOYED, I TRIED AGAIN BUT NOTHING, AND THEN TIME RAN OUT :( BOO HOO...... So here is basically what I said: You would be so impressed with where I went yesterday miss life saver!! I went to the US Coast Guard!!! Yup - the only base from New york up to the Canadian border is in Boston!!! YEY!!! (Didn't see Ashton though!!) I also went to the aquarieum and the IMAX at the equarium, showing a grand canyon show with dave matthews band playing the music for the movie!! It was cool... 3D. I also did a duck tour - the one that goes in the water and on land.... very fun!! I got asked by an American if I was a Canadian cause he overheard me saying 'Ay' aparently!! Do canadians say that too????? I also went to the markets here - they are really cool!!! Look out for the stall with the zipper bags!!! They are soooo cool - I was gonna get you one for your B'day but I figured they were prolly weak, and too Exy - but the whole bag is a giant zip that you can un zip and roll up!!! cool eh!!! Anyway when you are here I also recommend you go to the Science Museum!!!! I went today and spent like 6 hours there!! And only left cause they were closing!!!! It is really coool!!!!!!!! Lots of stuff for kids, but lots for adults too (and I just sat down at the kids ones and did them too!! he h e) Then I went to Harvard, and it's over rated - it's just like any other uni, but Posh. (Ie. nice gardens, red brick buildings, and people in suits carrying laptops!!!) But worth going to just to say I've been there!!!!! The walk into the city is cool too - if you stay where I did, check out Newbury St, and also walk from here into town along the river - very pretty!! (Knowing you you can run it every morning!!) Anyway, I have 2 Irish girls in my room at the Hostel - they are awesome!!! (They have even hung the Irish flag in the rooom!!!) they are from Wexford which I think is the only town we missed - we diverted to go up to that mountain the first day (i think!?!?!) Anyway they are really cool and we'll have to go visit them in Ireland!!! Any news on the job?!?! Anyway kit (and mum and dad if your reading) gotta go!!!! Only day 3 and I am dying from waking up this early.....zzzzz......but I did find the coffee after a tragic 2 day withdrawal so now I am buzzing! Everything is good. My bunkmates (6 chicks) are all legends. Kirsty (Welsh), Chrys (New York), Ryan (Maine), Alexi (UK), Jaime (Illinois), Rebecca (Maine), Anna (English), Lindsey (French), Alon (Israeli), Elliot (UK), and Alli (USA) are the best. Our class is mostly guys, and mostly USA people who got scholarships to swim at uni (college to them) and really good. Course leaders Scuba and Ryan took us all to the pub so we're happy! (but too hungover for early morning) We are all chilling right now in the 60 minute break we get before the bugle calls us for dinner. Seriously, a BUGLE! I feel retarded saying that! It's real. Normally we wouldn't get this much time free, but we just did rescue swimming for two hours straight and they had to let us out when we all started seizing up and getting muscle spasms from hyperthermia. (it's raining and muddy and it feels like 10 degrees OUTSIDE the pool. The water is icy.) I always imagined 'summer' meant HOT??? I wont get internet for much longer after training is over....WAAAH! Oh dude, just got back from a monster trip to Walmart with a ton of us. THEY SELL GUNS NEXT TO THE CHILDREN'S BIKES........and I used to wonder why America was so messed up and dangerous!!? ARG! Went to Applebees and then the bar...see facebook for photos.....Frenchy (Lindsey) and I had adventures in the 'bathroom' when the electric paper towel dispenser decided not to stop spewing out paper! We look drunk. We so are...!!! :-D Tomorrow me, Anna, Lindsay, Jaime, Elliot and Alon leave this camp for our own. Can't wait! Miss you heaps. Tell me goss...xoxo Current Location: Maine USA Current Mood: way happy Current Music: Nothing but the rain

I am cursing like a animal right now. Curse curse. My weekend has been unbelievable.
I should probably start with my hangover from the Christmas party. You should always judge a party by the hangover, and boy this one was dramatic. I nursed my stomach the entire night, clutched my head the entire weekend, and croaked my way through the entire week. Somehow I managed to get (what I thought was) a terrible self-induced cold.

I survived the week though, and crashed Shane's house on Friday night to go to my first ever eggnog and gingerbread house-making party. Alice, Janet, Shane and I made a devine gingerbread house and then cracked the roof into pieces for supper! Mmmm. In the end, it looked as though santa had got too fat and fallen through the ceiling.
We watched Elf on Shane's projected tele and apparently I snored through The Grinch who Stole Christmas.....(blocked nose people, I neeeeever snore) I didn't last long, so Alice and Janet helped me out by drinking all the wine and leaving me to sleep the night on Shane's couch! I was kind of fuzzy from the cold and flu meds, but I'm sure I woke up around 2am to find a blanket of tissues in my lap and some interesting nude men the size of dinosaurs dancing around in front of me on the Canadian version of SBS porn!!! (never leave the tv on when you fall asleep...expecially when it's as big as a movie theatre!)
The next morning we woke up early for a Curl Canada workshop Janet and I were invited to. I should explain that to Canadians, curling is kinda equivelent to lawn bowls. (slow, dull, for oldies...) But to me!!! I can't even walk across an icey road without holding onto my flatmate for dear life, or practically getting down on all fours and crawling!! But here is a sport played entirely on ice, and in shoes with flat metal soles to make you run/slide..........FASTER?!! Like I bloddy need speed when I'm trying to star upright on the ice ha ha ha!!
This is what curling should look like (thank you Shashi!):
You may notice there are no photos of me. There is a good reason for this!!! My flatmate says: when you are Aussie, the only ice you should be aquainted with is the ice in your Bundy and Coke. This sport is INSANE!!! I thought iceskating was bad. Curling is ice skating on ONE LEG! Because when your curling shoe touches the ice, it whizzes out from under you at 100000000 kms/hr. I should mention now that the only reason I attempted this 'lame' sport was because Kym Petrofski had told me last year- "You cannot go to Canada without learning the rules of curling for me...they are insane!". Yes Kymmie, they are. Curse curse. One team member has a rock so heavy I could hardly push it across the ice let alone lift it. The other 2 have brooms. The 1st member does this tricky little manouver with his feet, "foot back" "straighten knees" "foot forward" "sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide"! They push off forward and slide pretty far down the ice to a line (here they release the rock). Sliding looks like this: How many people can actually get into this position? ...let alone with all their weight on the front foot....the foot that is pure metal!!! Arghh!! You slide so fast in the splits with this huge heavy rock in your hand trying to stay upright and skating on 1 foot. (Who invented this!!!!?) The other 2 members run (yes RUN!) sideways (RUN SIDEWAYS?!!! It's more of a galloping trot on ice with one hyperactive foot) down the entire length of the room, SWEEPING the ice in front of the rock (to direct it and give it more distance). .....I'm was feeling quite uncoordinated! I finally got the hang of sliding and started to get pretty alright at the ice running too. Then I tried to stand still and everything went wrong. Somehow my legs flew all the way up to my head (I have to make this sound dramatic because it wasn't) and I flew backwards through the air to land flat on my ass. My wrist cracked backwards to save me and...that's about it. I jumped up, laughed and carried on (because that's what you have to do when you fall on your bum). A few minutes later after passing out (delicate thing I am) and then spewing up (erm, not so delicate) I quietly walked out on my curling career and headed to hospital alone, on foot (-35 degrees C!!!). I couldn't bend my wrist. After passing out again, waiting 3.5 hours in emergency, and chatting to all my favourite people in the ER, I was diagnosed with bronchitis and a distal radius fracture!!! I broke my wrist 7 days before our big ski trip! Damn timing. To be honest, I had a broken bum too, but by this stage there was no way I was pulling down my dacks and jumpin' up on an x-ray table in front of all my workmates to prove it! (yeah, that came a bit later - sad to say, Bonnyville is a VERY small town, so everyone in the hospital either works in my department/knows me/parties with me and got a look at my bum. AND....I was the only hand therapist in the town so I had to cast and splint and rehab MYSELF! Waaaaaaah!! And I couldn't get time off work, so I was the local hand therapist with only one hand. And I would treat patients with broken wrists and my splint would start to melt and get stuck onto their splints when I heated them and....GAH!!!) To top it off, Janet and Shane were at Shane's work xmas party all night, and my phone froze to death (literally) in the cold and refused to work for 2 days. I managed to call my dad from the ER in the middle of golf and convince him to fly to Canada and give me Caramello koalas and hugs. (heh heh.....he didn't come though?!!). I never never cry, but that night it I cryed my heart out I may have disturbed my neighbours a bit with the noise - a bit of a combo between a broken down vaccum cleaner and an ambulance when you have bronchitis and a croaky voice to begin with! My flatmate suggested I stick to the icey Bundy's. I am sulking! (because my flatmate is also my physio waaaaaaaaaaaah!) On a lighter note, I think I've forgotten the meaning of 'hot' because today we had a heat wave and i actually said "this -8 degrees is beautiful and warm, isn't it?" Current Location: Hiding from my physio Current Music: They tried to make me go to rehab but I said no, no, no!
